Tuff Little Pepto, known in the barn as Jake, is a 2016 AQHA Sorrel Stallion who defines the Penley ideal of Guns, Grit ’n Grace—equal parts looks, athleticism, and mind. Presented by Penley Horsemanship and enrolled in the CMSA Stallion Incentive, Jake is both a proven performer and a cornerstone breeding stallion for the program.
In the pen, he’s powerful yet rateable, with the kind of focus that makes hard patterns look clean and intentional. His confidence is quiet, his work ethic relentless—and his stride length is unmatched.
What truly sets Jake apart is his versatility. He is the go-to horse for nearly any task: an integral teacher in clinics and lesson programs, an excellent trail horse, handy and thoughtful on cows, and a pleasure to handle both at home and on the road. He meets riders where they are, builds confidence without dulling his edge, and brings the same honesty to teaching that he does to competition.
Bred to perform, Jake carries a strong mare line of Nu I Wood, responsible for earners of more than $1.1M, and is backed by influential sires Peptoboonsmal and Bet On Me 498. That pedigree shows up clearly—in his cow sense, his body control, and his natural feel for the job. He passes on athleticism, trainability, and a willing mind, making him an exceptional cross for performance-minded mares.
In the barn, Jake is straightforward, respectful, and easy to be around. At shows, he’s steady and professional. Under saddle, he’s all business—with the heart to give more when it counts.
Jake represents the heart of Team Penley: Proven in competition. Trusted in teaching. Versatile by nature. Built to pass it on.
