Gucci is a 2020 AQHA gelding whose elegance, heart, and competitive fire make him a standout in the Team Penleyprogram. Owned and shown by Julia Ray, Gucci is the rare combination every horseman hopes for: an exceptionally kind disposition paired with the drive and grit required to compete at the highest levels of Cowboy Mounted Shooting.

Started under saddle—and developed in mounted shooting—by Penley Horsemanship, Gucci was built correctly from day one. His foundation shows in his softness, responsiveness, and confidence in the pen. He stays honest through transitions, thoughtful in his turns, and forward without losing composure. Gucci doesn’t rush the work; he understands it—and that understanding translates into consistency on the clock.

Bred for performance, Gucci is a full brother to the stallion Tuff Little Pepto, and he carries that pedigree with quiet class. Where some horses rely solely on horsepower, Gucci brings balance: athletic movement, a sharp mind, and a willingness that makes him a joy to develop and ride.

Together, Gucci and Julia Ray have successfully competed at the national Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association Futurity and Derby in 2024 and 2025, steadily building experience, confidence, and results. As they head into their third year of competition together, the team has their sights firmly set on the 2026 CMSA Derby, with Gucci continuing to mature into an upper-level contender.
